day one--question & an observation

Postby tissy on Thu Nov 05, 2009 9:40 pm

hi! i am really excited to begin this diet. i went to the store last night, got all the groceries involved, made the soup (yummy) and i'm really motivated. i have a lot of weight to lose. i have never been thin, but this extra weight (post pregnancy) is holding me back in every part of my life. this morning i was 267.2, holy hell. i've been in denial/extremely busy, but now i am in a mental place where i can fix this.

something i noticed with cranberry juice:
i know enough to get 100% juice, no "cranberry cocktail" no diet juice (fake sugar can mess things up). so, i picked up a gallon of it. on my way out of the juice isle, i noticed these glass bottles of i think it was called "just cranberry" with dust on the top of them! it was 8 bucks. i looked at the calories, and for 8 oz it was 70 calories. i looked at the normal everyday cranberry juice, and it's 140 calories for 8 oz. the only reason i can think why is because it contains apple and grape juices also? the "just cranberry" only contains water and cranberry juice.
and man, when i drank the 8 dollar "just cranberry" this morning, what a difference! it was about as bitter as lemon juice. i would have never known the difference if i had not seen this other stuff. so i just wanted to let everyone know.

my question is about olive oil---would it be ok to put some on a salad for tomorrow's veggie day? i'm thinking not, since from what i have read on here, it's important to control fats. but i haven't seen anything about salad dressings yet, so i'm hoping someone can answer. thanks!

Hi Tissy; Welcome to CSD and the Forum. Way To Go reading your labels. It's something that will become habit. Honestly, I use a tsp of EVOO when I stir fried my Vegetables now. I don't know how much that affects the weight I lose. For me 8 lbs my 1st week on CSD was major, but during that particular week I juiced my Vegetables. I did not have Salads so I cannot really say. Sorry.
Hopefully someone who had Salad will chime soon for you. Maybe you can "surf the net" for a recipe of oil free dressing.
(1) You may want to google "negative calorie foods". (2) I will not recommend this for your 1st week, because Avocado is on their list. It is also considered a "good" fat like EVOO, but look up 'theeasycabbagesoupdiet.com'.
Best of Luck to you. We are here to help if you have questions.
