Need Healthy
Snack During Diet?
Question:
|
I've just started the diet this
morning. It is now 10.00 pm at night and I am DESPERATE for a
bag of hula hoops or some cheese and biscuits or some toast. Can
anyone recommend any snacks I could use a substitutes? So sick
of fruit!

Try freeze
dried fruit. Even though it's fruit, it's definitely a snack.
It's different than dried fruit. Dried fruit sometimes has sugar
and is usually soft and sticky. Freeze dried fruit is 100% fruit
and has no moisture so it's crunchy. (keep it in the fridge to
keep the crunch)
I buy them at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.
(Whole Foods has strawberries, raspberries, apples, etc)
I think they sell freeze dried veggies too.

Also for a
snack on veggie days and the thought of one more piece of raw
carrot or celery is killing you. Try roasting carrots, green
beans, onions etc. Just put on a baking pan in a hot oven for
abut 30 min they are great! I have even broiled them.

I cheated for
snacks on some days with Granola bars that had fruit in them.
I'm still losing weight so I would recommend one of those. They
are only like 120 calories.

I am doing
this diet to change my eating habits, shrink my stomach,
and not have constant sugar cravings. I am following this diet
religiously though. My soup came out awesome and I found I just
needed to be a little creative with my snacks.
I looked at the negative calorie fruits on my fruit day and
chopped up some apples, raspberries, and watermelon and blended
it with my unsweetened cranberry juice and ice. It was a nice
little smoothie/frothy and a great way to enjoy my breakfast
before work!

I have another
veggie recipe that I think junk food lovers like myself will
appreciate. You cut up a bunch of parsnips like french fries,
toss them with a teaspoon each, of the spices cumin and
coriander. and bake at 400 for 25 minutes. Just eat the fries
plain, no dipping in anything and you've got a veggie for one of
your veggie days.
On days that you're not on the CSD, dip the fries in yogurt with
some curry and green onion mixed in. TOO DELICIOUS!!!!
